2021 New Year message from Saiko Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi

Happy New Year.

I would like to extend my sincere best wishes for the New Year to all the Officials, Teachers, members, and parents of IKGA and JKGA.

The Novel Coronavirus, COVID-19, spread throughout the world, has been rampant throughout the year.

I would like to express my deepest condolences for those who died of the infection, and I would like to express my sympathies to those who have suffered from it. We must do everything we can to get through and overcome this situation.

I am deeply grateful to the scientists and medical practitioners throughout the world engaged in the treatment of COVID-19 for all their hard work and dedication.

Each country has different measures and precautions, but in order to maintain the security of our medical systems, each person should be self-aware, establish a new way of life, and reconsider their everyday lifestyle.

Unfortunately, most of the domestic and international events of Gojukai during the past year have been cancelled or postponed. My annual overseas travel also set a record of zero trips for the first time.

During the Novel Coronavirus pandemic, last year we posted two YouTube messages, held domestic online seminars, and held remote Web meetings.

We have been forced into a situation where we had to change the way we communicate due to infections transmitted through close contact, but we do not forget the importance of friendship.

In times like this, we should continue interacting with one another through changed methods.

Of course, we must refrain from spreading the COVID-19 virus, but it is equally important to imagine a bright future when competitions and seminars will be resumed, and friends can gather and be close to one another with peace of mind!

Japan is now aiming to host the postponed “2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics” in 2021, and All Japan Karatedo Gojukai Association will host the 8^th Karatedo Gojukai Global Championship in Japan in 2022. Enduring with dreams and hopes, we are waiting for the sure-to-come dawn of tomorrow.

令和3年　新年のごあいさつ

国際空手道剛柔会・全日本空手道剛柔会

会　長　山口剛史

新年明けましておめでとうございます。

国際空手道剛柔会・全日本空手道剛柔会の役員、指導者、会員そして御父母関係各位に於かれましては元気で新年を迎えられましたこととお慶び申し上げます。

世界中で感染を広げました新型コロナウイルスは年を越して各地で猛威を振るっております。

感染によって亡くなられた方々には衷心より弔意を捧げ、苦慮されておられる皆さんには激励の言葉を以って見舞いといたしますので、この境遇を打破すべく、創意工夫して戴く様切望いたします。

コロナ医療に従事される世界中の方々へのご苦労、ご献身には只々、感謝の思いです。

国によってそれぞれ異なる対処と警戒がなされておりますが、医療体制確保の為にも一人一人が自覚して新生活様式を打ち立て、日々を見つめ直して下さい。

誠に残念な事では御座いましたが、昨年の剛柔会国内外の行事は殆んど中止、延期となりました。

私の年間海外渡航も初めて０回を記録しました。

コロナ渦にあって昨年は2回のユーチューブメッセージと国内のオンラインセミナー開催とリモートによるWeb会議等も実施致しました。

我々は、濃厚接触からの感染を通してコミュニケイションの在り方を変えなければならない状況に追い込まれましたが、親交が如何に大切であるかを忘れてはおりません。

この様な時だからこそ、手段を変えての交流を図ろうではありませんか。

勿論、感染拡大防止の為に自粛に努めなければなりませんが、競技会、講習会等が再開され、仲間同士が安心して集い親しめる明るい将来をイメージすることが大切ではないでしょうか！

日本は今、延期された「東京オリンピック・パラリンピック2020」の開催を目指して、そして全日本空手道剛柔会は2022年、「第8回空手道剛柔会グローバル選手権大会」の日本開催を実現する為に、夢と希望を膨らませて耐え忍び、きっと来る明日の夜明けを待っております。

Message from Saiko Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi - COVID-19 virus

Dear IKGA members;

I would like to express my respect and gratitude for your devotion to Goju‑ryu Karate and your support of IKGA.

Presently, countries around the world are struggling to deal with the introduction, and to prevent the spread of infection with, the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

In Japan, from March 2, measures have been required to close elementary schools, junior high schools and high schools altogether, and for various events to be discontinued, postponed, or reduced in scale.

The "Novel Coronavirus Infectious Disease Countermeasures Experts Council" reported that the disease is thought to spread under the following conditions:

1.   Being in an enclosed space with poor ventilation

2.   Being in a large crowd

3.   Engaging in conversation in close proximity (within touching distance of each other)

The Experts Council expressed the view that many people were infected when all three conditions are present at the same time, and that people should anticipate and try to avoid situations where and when these three conditions would be present.

According to virus specialists, avoiding close contact, proper hand washing, observing cough etiquette at all times, and wearing a mask were most effective at preventing transmission.

In Japan, many Karate Dojos are closed to practice in consideration of the possibility of group infection.

Therefore, IKGA Headquarters is requesting that all IKGA Bloc Directors reconsider any plans to visit Japan.

On March 12, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has become a pandemic.

This year, IKGA has many events planned in countries in each Bloc.

The training of karate and interpersonal exchanges are a great achievement that we have maintained for many years, but we must reassess the situation and make decisions calmly.

I sincerely hope that based on everyone’s differing circumstances, planning and actions will be made with proper understanding and recognition.

I pray for the quick extinction of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), that life will return to normal, and that individual training, group activities and international exchanges will resume.

ＩＫＧＡメンバーの皆さん、剛柔流空手道の精進とＩＫＧＡへのご協力に敬意と感謝を申し上げます。

今、世界中の国々が新型コロナウイルスの新入、感染拡大防止に苦慮しております。

日本では３月２日より小・中・高校の一斉休校、各種イベントの中止、延期又は規模縮小等の対応が求められております。

「新型コロナウイルス感染症対策専門会議」より次の条件下において感染が拡散されたと考えられるとの報告がありました。

①   換気の悪い密閉空間、

②   多くの人が密集、

③   近距離（互いに手を伸ばしたら届く距離）での会話や発声、

三つの条件が同時に重なった場で多くの人が感染したと考えられることからこれらの条件が同時にそろう場所や場面を予測し、避ける行動をとって戴きたい旨の見解も示されました。

ウイルスの専門医によりますと濃厚接触を避け、毎時の徹底した手洗いと咳のエチケット、マスク着用が最も有効とのことでありました。

日本国内では空手道練習場からの集団感染を考慮して閉鎖している教室も多くあります。

よって、ＩＫＧＡ本部より各ブロック長には訪日計画の見直し検討をも依頼しております。

本日３月１２日、世界保健機関（ＷＨＯ）より新型コロナウイルスの蔓延によるパンデミック宣言がなされました。

本年、ＩＫＧＡは各ブロック、各国において多くの行事が計画されております。

空手道の修練、交流は永年に亘って私達が望み、実践してきた大きな成果でありましたが今状況を冷静に判断して行動しなければなりません。

それぞれが異なる状況の中、正しい知識と認識を以って計画、実行、されます事を心から願っております。

一日も早く、新型コロナウイルスが終息して元の状況に戻り、自己鍛練、グループ活動、国際親善交流が再開されます様祈念致します。
